I have tried absolutely everything I can find online to remedy this, and I just can't get anything to work properly. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my iMac.
I downloaded the Windows 7 ISO from Microsofts website (I have a product key already). I have burned it at least 6 different times, with different burning utilities (Including Toast 11 Ultimate) to no avail. Every time I try to use boot camp I just get the error 'The installer disc could not be found'. Doing it another way I have found online, and holding down alt/option on boot only brings up my main Mac HD, and a recovery partition. I have also tried using a USB Drive, formatted every which way I have read. NOTHING will recognize as a Windows installer disc (says boot camp).. I did however get it to locate the 'Installer disc' by mounting the ISO to a virtual drive, but then upon reboot, I just get the error message 'NO BOOT DEVICE'.
SO. I have also tried one other Windows 7 CD (The Restore CD from my laptop) , and a legit Windows XP CD to no avail.
I am LOSING MY MIND.
Help.

If I got to Disk Utility I see a 'BOOTCAMP' partition, and if I go to Startup Disk I see 'BOOTCAMP Windows' listed. When I do File-New in Parallels Boot Camp is not listed there, and if I go through all of the steps to set it up manually, when I click on Hard Disk in the manual configuration there isn't a Boot Camp partition listed anywhere. Boot camp assistant not locating install disc. Doing it another way I have found online, and holding down alt/option on boot only brings up my main Mac HD, and a recovery partition.

Ok, so I've had TERRIBLE luck with Bootcamp.
The first time, it killed my Hard Drive.
THAT was quite a fiasco.
The second time, I got a disk error because I couldn't format the hard drive through the installer.
And now, Boot Camp can't even read the disc! I am getting VERY frustrated.
I have gone through three LEGAL copies of Windows XP Pro, and I am NOT happy.
Running Windows was one of the main reasons I bought a mac.
The second disk that produces a disk error is because of the fact that it's a quick installer that fills in certain options for you, skipping the option to format the hard drive.
Is there a workaround for this?
The third disc is a regular version, but when I put it in the drive and click 'start installation' in the Boot Camp Assistant, it says 'The installer disc could not be found.'
I have tried logging in as root, and the disc appears on the hard drive.
I have tried burning the disc and using the burned copy.
I am getting VERY frustrated and this has not been a good experience for me.
What happened to, 'It just works?'
